Semax Liquid Spray

Semax Liquid Spray is a pre-dissolved, intranasal-format presentation of the synthetic heptapeptide Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro), an ACTH(4-7) analog carrying a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension for enzymatic stability. It corresponds to the same molecular entity catalogued in PubChem as CID 9811102 (CAS 80714-61-0), supplied in a ready-to-use liquid rather than lyophilized powder. Much of the historical Semax research literature specifically employed intranasal delivery, making the liquid spray format the reference route for many published studies.

In experimental settings Semax has been studied as a nootropic and neuroprotective neuropeptide, with reported mechanisms centered on up-regulation of BDNF and NGF and downstream TrkB/TrkA activation in rodent hippocampus, together with modulation of dopaminergic and serotonergic systems. This product is provided exclusively for laboratory research and is not intended for human or animal use.

Research Context
Intranasal delivery researchThe liquid spray format mirrors the intranasal route used across much of the published Semax literature.
Neurotrophin regulationStudied for increases in BDNF and NGF expression and TrkB/TrkA phosphorylation in rodent hippocampal tissue.
NeuroprotectionInvestigated in experimental cerebral-ischemia and oxidative-stress models.
Cognition and learningExamined in animal learning-and-memory paradigms as an ACTH-derived nootropic peptide.
Monoaminergic modulationReported to influence central dopaminergic and serotonergic activity in rodents.
Research Findings

Rodent studies using intranasal Semax report increased hippocampal BDNF protein and mRNA and elevated TrkB tyrosine phosphorylation after single administration, with additional reports of dopaminergic and serotonergic activation and neuroprotection in ischemia models. Because much of this work used the intranasal route, the liquid spray format is directly relevant to reproducing published experimental conditions.

These findings arise from in-vitro and animal research and describe biochemical behavior only; they are not evidence of clinical efficacy or safety in humans.

History

Semax was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences as a stabilized ACTH(4-10)-derived neuropeptide. Intranasal administration was central to its original characterization, and the liquid spray presentation reflects that established research delivery route.
